Love Windermere & have travelled to the area countless times for holidays & mini breaks, great location for exploring all that the Lake District offers. Would recommend staying in Windermere because it’s a great base & has every amenity necessary for a good holiday. We ate with friends on this visit but there are plenty of cafes & restaurants close by to meet most peoples needs.

Windermere was beautiful.
Windermere was beautiful.
We didn't realise before coming that down by the lake is classed as Bowness, which is much busier and touristy. So staying in Windermere really suited us as we could get down to the Lake easily enough, but liked being in a quieter location with some lovely independent places to eat.

Windermere & the lake district is just stunning with even more incredible views around every corner. There is so so much to do from pottering around the gorgeous villages to swimming, kayaking, hiking & Alpaca walks! It's so easy to see where Beatrix Potter & Wordsworth got their inspiration.

Ideally located and handy as a base for exploring.

Traffic always snarls up towards Ambleside, so be patient it does clear.
Get up early and get out there of you want to get somewhere
The cafe at Brantford does amazing brunch and for those Beatrix fans, Hill Top is great. The pub though is something else, the landlord is a treasure chest of information.

The countryside is absolutely stunning.
The countryside is absolutely stunning. Luckily for us the weather was beautiful just the right temperature for us and the sun was shining. We picked a good time of year as in the summer I would imagine it would be extremely busy. It's like every other old town narrow streets needing a bit of navigating. We visited the Beatrix Potter Museum which was great. We drove to Ravenglass and went on a steam train. Plenty of lovely cafes and restaurants in both Windermere and Bowness.
Our time here was amazing, we enjoyed the Lakes area and this apartment so much! Location is perfect - few minutes walk from the Windermere train station and tons of restaurants and shops are also a short walk away. The apartment had so much room for our family of four (3 adults, 1 teen). Everything was sparkling new and worked perfectly! The only things I would note are if you are traveling with young kids or anyone with mobility issues, the stairs will probably be challenging for you. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend to stay here!
This was my first time visiting the Lake District and I couldn’t have asked for anything better, it was way better than what I had expected!
The food that was served in the restaurant was out of this world, the room was very clean, spacious and had everything we needed.
I would highly recommend the Windermere manor hotel to anyway that decides to visit the beautiful Lake District and I will deffo stay here again next time I’m down :)
The host Beverly was very welcoming and shared a lot of helpful information on where to eat and places to visit. The house was clean and in a quiet environment. It is located next to a street which is a short walk directly to bowness and windermere bus interchange/railway station. Buses also ply along this street. The bed was super comfy and we had a good night's rest every night. Breakfast was fantastic too! Thank u Beverly!
The reception and hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. Comfortable room with excellent bathroom. The swimming pool and sauna are a great addition and easy to reserve a space. The breakfast is fantastic with a range of pastries to start and various choices for breakfast (the Cumbrian full breakfast is brilliant) The coffee and fresh orange is fresh and tastes amazing. Amazing views overlooking Windermere area.
the room we were in was very spacious with lovely decor, clean with great facilities and everything needed for a very comfortable stay. we found staff to be very friendly and accommodating. breakfast served at a time agreed to by us, brought to our room, the hotel is situated perfectly for a nice stroll into Windermere or up to Browness. It was a lovely clean room. Everything we needed. Nice spacious bathroom. They go the extra mile in their welcome pack, which has everything you need to know about the hotel facilities aswell as a long list of cafes and restaurants in Windermere. Definitely a hotel to return to.
The hotel was in an ideal location mid way between Windermere and Bowness and within walking distance of both. The Honey suite was excellent with an indoor spa bath and outdoor jacuzzi. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We will be back.
